For a puppy to develop into a confident and well adapted dog it is very important for him to socialise and be exposed to a wide variety of situations during his socialisation period (approximately 3 to 10-12 weeks of age).
During this sensitive period a puppy should interact with his littermates, with his mother and with humans (adults and children). Generally puppies are recommended to go to their new home at approximately 8 weeks of age.
Lack of socialisation may lead to abnormal behavioural later on, like fear of other dogs and other people, of unfamiliar environments and it can even lead to aggression.
Puppy socialisation and training classes are an excellent opportunity for your puppy to meet other dogs and different people in a welcoming and safe environment!
