*COVID update 20th May 2020 *
Following the latest government advice, we are continuing to operate on an
emergency and essential cases basis at both clinics, using video
consultations very successfully as the first port of call. If your pet is
unwell, please call the clinic and the reception team will discuss the
consultation process with you and arrange an appointment.
Food, medication and parasite control
Our food, medication and parasite control collection system is working
brilliantly and has allowed us to continue to provide you with what your
pet needs, with a safe no-contact process.
Clients are asked to pay over the telephone in advance, and we then place
your items at our collection point whilst maintaining social distancing
guidelines of 2 meters. If you are a member of our Paxton Health Plan, your
pets’ parasite control is included in this, making it even easier as you
have nothing to pay!
For clients who are self-isolating, we are still running our weekly
medication drop off service and will continue this until the end of May.
Please explain why you need your medication dropped off and we can talk you
through the process.
The British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA), our governing
body, has recognised that some of our preventative duties towards animal
welfare could not be postponed much longer and we are now able to offer
primary vaccination courses for puppies and kittens.
We are also following the BSAVA’s recommendation regarding annual booster
vaccinations. They have been working closely with the Royal College of
Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and the vaccine manufacturers and have produced
practical guidelines, you can find the information here:
We obviously have a backlog of adult vaccinations, having been unable to
offer them for several weeks and are working our way through them on a
priority basis. We are watching delays closely and will be sending
reminders before pets reach the time they would need to restart their
If your pet had their last vaccine 15 months or longer ago, and you have
not received an email or a telephone call from us as yet, then please do
Paxton Health Plan 6 month check with the nurse.
We haven’t forgotten our health plan members and whilst we cannot organise
6 months health checks in the clinic at present, you can book a telephone
consultation with a clinic nurse.
The nature of our work, along with the size of the buildings makes social
distancing very difficult inside, which is why clients will continue to be
asked to remain outside. Do call the clinic upon arrival and we will come
and collect your pet from the door.
Despite the risks our staff are committed to care for your pets and we are
immensely proud of the work they are doing every day. We have reduced
opening hours, reduced staff and appointment appointment capacity. It has
been incredibly hard work, and the processes we have to follow are time
consuming and if we are being honest, a little frustrating at times. We are
extremely grateful to you for respecting lockdown rules and for your
