Meet Our Vets
Helen Spencer MRCVS
I grew up on a busy farm in Kent surrounded by animals, and becoming a vet was the only career I ever seriously considered. I feel very lucky to have been able to follow the path I dreamed of since a child, and to have the opportunity to run my own clinic.
I graduated from Bristol University in 1999, have worked here since 2003; and I am both Head Vet and Clinical Manager. Apart from my job as a vet, my other passion in life is travelling and I have worked as a vet in Morocco, Mali, Ethiopia, Jordan and India, and continue to mix work with my travels.
I have walked the length of New Zealand, been to Mt Everest Base Camp, trekked across part of Afghanistan, Yemen and recently become part of the first team to have ever succeeded in crossing Madagascar on foot.
I live with a large ginger rescue cat called Hobbs.
Anna Wisniewski MRCVS
I am originally from New York, but have roots in England and have been visiting since I was a baby. I am definitely a city girl, and following veterinary school at the London Royal Vet College, I decided to stay. I have have been living locally ever since, and still enjoy finding new parts of London to explore!
I have an interest in medicine, and am currently studying for a certificate in advanced veterinary practice in small animal medicine.
I am a bit of a cat lady, and love all things cats. My two moggies, Oscar and Theo, are my babies. I look forward to meeting all of your fur family!
Pru Gardiner MRCVS
Hi there, I’m Pru and I grew up in London so I know the city well. After graduating from the University of Cambridge in 2016, I moved back to West London where I worked until joining the Paxton team in 2018.
I am particularly interested in feline medicine and ultrasound scanning. My family have had cats since I was a baby and I now share my flat with a very opinionated tortoiseshell cat called Bea!
Cameron Reid MRCVS
I graduated in 2007 from the University of Queensland in Australia. After starting my career in a cat specialist hospital, I moved to the UK to expand my horizons, working with dogs and cats as a locum before settling down in London in a role with Cats Protection.
In 2012 I moved on to zoo animals and wildlife, completing a masters degree at London Zoo.
In 2016 I completed an internship in Anaesthesia at Ohio State University before moving back to the UK where I have now settled into Crystal Palace and my new position at Paxton Vets!
Lara Baker MRCVS
I qualified from the Royal Vet College in 2010 and joined the Paxton Vets team in 2014 after running a clinic sole charge for 2 years.
This means that I have built up a wealth of experience in both medicine and surgery across the species, but I am particularly interested in Neurology. I work at Paxton Vets as a regular locum.
I am a keen traveller, and own two gorgeous dogs called Navy and Zephyr who sometimes come to work with me.
