Hello- I am Helen – most of you will have met me, as I have worked at Paxton Vets for about 14 years now as the Head Vet :).
I am off to Uganda in a few weeks to volunteer on various Veterinary projects in and around Masaka, before running in the annual Uganda Marathon!
I will be working with the local community, specifically with a group of vulnerable youngsters, and the local elderly community, who have developed small livestock projects to enable them to facilitate a sustainable livelihood.
These include pigs, chickens, goats and cows, and I will be working to use my Veterinary skills to try and improve their welfare and production.
All very far removed from my normal day job in South London looking after your pets, and a bit daunting, however I am super excited at taking on this challenge.
I would really appreciate it if you could spare a pound or two, to sponsor me in running this ridiculous race which is ON the Equator, and will be very HOT and HILLLY – all of which will be a total nightmare for me as I am not a natural runner!
Any money raised will go towards sustaining these livestock projects for the future, and I will report back with photos of the projects and where the money will be spent, on my return (….. oh and my running efforts!)
We are extremely grateful to you for respecting lockdown rules and for your ongoing patience
This isn’t the easiest time to be socialising your puppy but if you do the 7 things listed above you will have made the best out of the current situation
