Gibson lived on the streets all his life, scared of everyone, and living on handouts from cat friendly houses. No human could get anywhere near him, and he had a tough life with the scars to show for it.
After 8 years of being fed regularly by one of our wonderful clients, he became unwell, and allowed her to handle him for the first time. He was diagnosed with Diabetes after a blood test at our Clinic, and now needs twice daily insulin injections for the rest of his life.
He seems to have realised that he needs help, and that some humans can be kind and trusted. He’s become the softest, cuddliest cat around (as demonstrated here by having a cuddle with our Vet Nurse Annika).
He lives a very happy life in a loving warm home, never having to scavenge for food in the bins again, and he shows no interest in going outside now that he lives in a hotel with room service! He copes with his insulin injections and regular trips to the Clinics without complaining and is healthier than he’s been in years.
What a wonderful story of the trust that can build over time, and of a cat lover who never gave up on him.
Gorgeous Gibson. He now comes for sleep overs with me when his owners go away. The sweetest boy in the world. You’d never believe he wouldn’t even let you near him 18 months ago.
This isn’t the easiest time to be socialising your puppy but if you do the 7 things listed above you will have made the best out of the current situation
The health, safety and wellbeing of our patients, our staff and our community is our priority
We are no longer using plastic bags at the clinics, but have moved to paper bags
